About Autism

Autism, also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a developmental disorder that affects communication and behavior. It is a "spectrum" disorder because it manifests in a wide variety of ways and at different levels of severity from person to person.

Three main areas are typically affected in autism:

Social Interaction: Individuals may have difficulty in social situations, understanding social cues, or forming and maintaining relationships.

Communication: This can involve challenges with verbal and non-verbal communication. Some individuals may have delayed speech development, while others might not use speech at all. Many individuals with autism might take things literally and struggle to understand metaphors or sarcasm.

Behaviors and Interests: Some individuals with autism can exhibit repetitive behaviors, have a deep interest in a specific topic, or have a strong need for routine and structure. It's important to note that autism is a diverse spectrum. Everyone with autism is unique, and they may exhibit these traits in different combinations and to varying degrees.

However, if you or someone you know shows signs of autism, consider consulting a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate support.
