Korey Wise Net Worth (2020)

Korey Wise is one of the "Central Park Five" who was wrongly accused and imprisoned for the rape of a young girl in Central Park. He was later exonerated and received $14 million in a settlement against the City of New York.

His Confession was Coerced

Korey became one of the most well-known of the five because he gave a confession that was coerced. It was later discovered that Korey suffers from hearing problems and did not fully understand what was happening.

He Met The Real Rapist in Prison

Ironically, while his confession is what got the "Central Park Five" arrested, he is also the one responsible for freeing them. Korey Wise met the real rapist, Matias Reyes while in prison and it was Reyes' eventual confession that would get the boys out of jail.

He's Been to the Emmys

Netflix created a mini-series about the "Central Park Five" and Jharell Jerome who played Korey in the series won an Emmy for his role as a lead actor in a limited series. Korey was invited to the Emmys that year because of the nomination and was able to celebrate the win along with Jharell.

He Lives by Central Park

After receiving his settlement money, Korey purchased a $925,000 one-bedroom condo located in Harlem near Central Park. The condo is situated in a luxury building and measures 803 square feet. He is also the only one of the five to stay in NYC after being freed from jail.

Korey is Working to Help Others

Since his release, Korey has been centering his efforts on helping others who have been falsely accused. He is a criminal justice activist and a public speaker. In addition, he also donated $190,000 to the Innocence Project to help others.
