Jaheim Net Worth | Platinum R&B Singer's Success Story
Jaheim Hoagland is an R & B singer, rapper, and hip-hop artist who was born in May of 1978 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to a hardworking family and two other sons: Taquane and Tyrone Jr. Hoagland.
The young family suffered a tragic loss when their father died in 1981. Jaheim was at the tender age of three. Their mom (Julie Grachel Hoagland) worked hard to care for her children and they lived in the public housing estate of Memorial Parkway homes in Brunswick, New Jersey.
Taking Time to Hone His Brand & Increase His Net Worth
Jaheim Hoagland took a few years to really polish his third album 'Ghetto Classics.' Hoagland's careful construction of thoughtful songs made 'Ghetto Classics' an incredible success. 'Ghetto Classics' stayed high on the music charts for many months.
In 2007, Hoagland released 'The Makings of a Man' which did well on the charts and sold like hotcakes throughout the United States. His following records 'Another Round' and 'Appreciation Day' helped solidify Jaheim's place in the R&B industry as a serious and thoughtful musician.
Jaheim's net worth is a healthy $4.5 million dollars and he lives in Hillsborough Township, New Jersey.
A Rising R&B Star
Jaheim shared a lover for the soothing tunes of Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross with his grandfather who supported him throughout his journey on becoming a professional musician.
At the age of 15, Hoagland competed in three, high-profile talent contests at the famous Apollo Theater in New York City, New York. The judges were blown away by the young performers' voice and entertaining presence on stage. Jaheim won all three of these contests which provided him with enough encouragement to chase his dreams.
Chasing Away the Grief
Just a year later, tragedy struck the Hoagland family again. Jaheim and his brothers became orphans when their mother died in 1994. Jaheim put his energy and grief into making a name for himself as the next sexy R&B singer.
It was not an overnight success for Jaheim, he spent countless days practicing his craft, performing for less than attentive audiences, and struggling to get recording executives to listen to his music for a shot at a recording contract.
Luckily, his supportive grandfather was a member of the iconic 'Drifters' and was well-connected to big names in the music industry and helped his grandson in every way to accomplish his goals. The cooperation of the Hoagland patriarch helped Jaheim reach where he is today.
Fame and Focus
Jaheim Hoagland's first big break came in 2001 with the debut of his demo tape 'Naughty Gear' who caught the attention of pop and hip-hop sensation Kaygee who was part of the hip-hop act Naughty by Nature.
Jaheim was immediately signed with Divine Mill Records and released his first, feature-length record 'Ghetto Love' which hit the Billboard 200 at number nine upon the album's initial release.
Two singles ('Ghetto Love' and 'Could It Be') from the debut album 'Ghetto Love' were released with moderate success. In 2001, he followed up his debut with another album entitled 'Still Ghetto.'
Jaheim's debut 'Ghetto Love' garnered some attention from fellow musicians like Lightys, RL, and Blackstreet who collaborated with Hoagland to help promote his budding career in the music industry.
While 'Still Ghetto' did not experience instant success. However, the album did reach platinum status and rose to the top ten on the United States Top 40 Hits Chart with 'Fabulous' and 'Anything' from his sophomore effort almost a decade later.
