David Khari Webber Chappelle was born in August 1973 in Silver Spring, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC. His father was a statistician, his mother a professor at Prince George's Community College.
His parents divorced when he was six and Dave stayed with his mom in Silver Spring. His dad became a college professor in Ohio, where Dave would spend his summers. Dave seems to usually work his vacations into his tour dates. At least he did when he played Manila. Dave and his Filipina wife spent time at the luxurious Pangulasian resort of El Nido in the Philippines. On the domestic side, Dave took his wife and three kids to Disney World.
That vacation was interrupted by many fans of the Chappelle Show, who constantly yelled Dave's famous Rick James line as the family enjoyed the resort. Dave also spends time in New York with his comedian friends, such as Eddie Murphy.
