Newly-Named Kanye West Spotted Wearing Creepy Prosthetic Disguises

Has Halloween come early for the man formerly known as Kanye West?

The newly named Ye has been spotted out and about in New York City wearing an unusual mask. As if slipping into the Caucasian lookalike prosthetic wasn’t odd enough, Ye’s companion was former Trump attorney Michael Cohen.

The purpose was so people would not recognize him

Photogs caught Ye and Cohen chatting at Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar at Lowes Regency Hotel this week — and this isn’t the duo’s first meetup, either. Earlier this month, the rapper and troubled fixer snagged some coffee in another shop on NYC’s Upper East Side.

While it’s not surprising to see Ye making some quirky style choices, apparently this time the mask had a practical purpose. Ye’s caffeine buddy Cohen later told Page Six that the mask was the Donda songster’s attempt to fly under the radar after fans got wind of the celebrity meetup and started gathering at the hotel.

“The purpose was so people would not recognize him,” Cohen explained. “The first 10 minutes we sat down, he was mobbed by people… who wanted photos and to say hello. So he put on this mask to give him some anonymity, which interestingly enough, did not really work.”

Ye, who is worth an estimated $1.8 billion, paired his mask with an oversized black leather jacket, black baseball hat, 80s-like acid-washed black jeans, and black rubber boots. With his hands stuffed into his pockets, the 22-time Grammy winner was totally covered head to toe.

But Ye has tried the mask ploy before — and in NYC, too. He was pictured in the same creepy getup several days earlier, this time in the arrivals area at JFK airport. He also has a habit of masking up — he hid is famous face behind an even more startling covering, this time from the fashion house Balenciaga, while entertaining guests at an A-list wedding in Venice last Sunday.

The Venice mask, worn with a similar all-black getup, was even more bizarre thanks to greenish-blue coloring and strange creature features including cup-like ears.

Anyone wondering why Cohen, who famously plead guilty to a wide range of crimes including tax fraud and campaign finance violations, is out in public instead of home on house arrest can rest easy. The Tuesday-morning meeting apparently fell during Cohen’s “free time,” when he’s allowed to leave his home. As for the topic of conversation, PR executive Ronn Torossian told Page Six the far-fetched friends were gabbing about real estate.

Freaky accessories aside, Ye is having a good month following a year filled with failed political campaigns and divorce. His recently released 10th studio album has hit the top of the charts all over the world and is already certified gold in three countries.
