What was the Feejee Mermaid?

The story goes that the Feejee Mermaid was found and captured in the South Pacific near the Fiji islands, before then coming into the possession of famed circus master, P.T. Barnum. This creature was part fishtail, part monkey, and was preserved with a primitive scowl and bared teeth in expression. Chupacabras
