Actors Who Underwent Dramatic Transformations For A Role

Some actors take their job of bringing characters to life very seriously. It's a given that most Hollywood A-listers have to have hot bodies, but several of these entertainers stretched, starved, and sweated themselves for their art.
Chris Pratt

When Chris auditioned for his first role with the Marvel franchise, he was close to 300 pounds. Pratt teamed up with a Hollywood trainer and a nutrition expert, and shed 60 pounds in less than six months. Getting Pratt into Star-Lord shape required a massive 4000 calories a day and a glass of water for every pound of his weight.
Charlize Theron

Playing serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 movie, Monster, required Theron to gain 30 pounds. She did so by eating donuts, chips, and all the junk food she usually abstains from to maintain her svelte model physique. Her performance landed her an Academy Award. Good job, Charlize and Krispy Kreme!
Jake Gyllenhaal

Jake lost more than 30 pounds to play Lou Bloom, relying heavily on intermittent fasting and restricting his nutrition to protein and protein-rich veggies. Additionally, he ran to the set in the morning and ran home after filming wrapped up for the day. During filming, he ran an average of 15 miles a day.
