17 WWE Legends Everyone Forgot About (And 10 That Everyone Still Loves)
The WWE, previously known as WWF has graced the sporting world with some spectacular scenes and characters ever since it was formed. From The Golden Era to the New Generation Era up, The Attitude Era, the New World Order, WWE has brought tears and cheers from fans around the globe. Through the years we have witnessed some great wrestling legends, some of whom we have forgotten.
1. The Ultimate Warrior - Straight out of a Comic
The ultimate Warrior may be the most mysterious man to ever hold the WWE championship. With his incredible physique that looked straight out of a comic book, and his painted mask, not to mention the funny way in which he spoke, The Ultimate Warrior had a huge impact on WWE. Warrior made quick fire entrances into the ring before he could shake the ropes like a man possessed. One of is most famous victories was when Warrior defeated The Honkey Tonk Man to win the Intercontinental Championship in 30 seconds. Other WWE greats like Mr Perfect and ''Ravishing'' Rick Rude also felt the power of warrior's Gorilla Press Slam!
2. Andre the Giant - The Eighth Wonder of the World
Andre was WWE's leading attraction in the 70's and well into the 80's. In 1987, Andre shocked the WWE world when he turned on his long-time ally Hulk Hogan and allied with Bobby ''The Brain'' Heenan who helped him score his first chance at the WWE championship at Wrestlemania III. Another highlight in Andre's career was when his 15-year winning streak was broken by Hulk-Hogan during a torch passing moment which ushered a new era in WWE history.
3. Bam Bam Bigelow - A Rare Breed of Talent
At 6-foot-4 Bigelow's talents made him a serious threat to every opponent he faced. Top managers sought after his services after his debut but he ultimately sided with Oliver Humperdink. Bam Bam went on to upheaval things at Survivor Series 1987 after he pinned One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy in one match.
4. Hacksaw Jim Duggan - A Patriot for the Ages
''Hacksaw'' Jim always marched into the ring with the American Flag held high over his shoulder. Duggan most recognizable distinction was how he defended America's honour in the ring.
5. ''Ravishing'' Rick Rude - A Real Sexy Man
Rick always worked his magic on a special gal after a victory, where he would give her a kiss to remember him by.
6. Ric Flair - ''Woooooo!''
Blazing through the arena like a fireball of charisma, Ric Flair was truly a character to behold. 'The Nature Boy' worked his way up the ranks and into the WWE where he claimed his first WWE championship by lasting an outstanding 60 minutes in the 1992 Royal Rumble, he won the championship a second time by beating Randy savage.
7. Rowdy Roody Piper - The Greatest
Rowdy has had his fair share of great opponents. Facing off against Hulk Hogan, Gold Dust, Bret 'Hit Man' Hart and more. Piper has also had his moments in the WWE, such as his pit with Robert Downey Jr. some say he is the greatest Superstar to hold a WWE championship.
