An Applebee’s Love Story for Nate Bargatze and his Wife
An Applebee’s Love Story for Nate Bargatze and his Wife

With multiple appearances on late-night shows, his own Comedy Central stand-up, a myriad of Netflix and YouTube specials, and a popular podcast, Tennessee native Nate Bargatze has taken the comedy spectrum by storm with his accolades. But before all that fame and success, Nate’s wife, Laura was supporting him all the way. Today, the 2 are still going strong, even 2 decades plus later, and on top of their booming careers, they are also happily raising a 9-year-old daughter.

A Romance Between 2 Servers

Between an order of loaded fries and a double cheeseburger, Nate met his wife, Laura when they both worked as servers at an Applebee’s restaurant, both in their early 20’s at the time. This was in an era pre-fame for Nate, as he hadn’t even started on his whirlwind adventure of stand-up yet. He won Laura over by popping in The Little Mermaid soundtrack on one of their dates, and that’s when she knew Nate was the one. The pair married in 2007.

Laura was Directly Responsible for Nate’s Success

Nate owes his comedic success to his wife, as she would become the main punchline for most of his stand-up. And her involvement doesn’t stop there. Laura is still the behind-the-scenes genius for a lot of Nate’s comedy, including being the producer of his popular podcast series. And because the 2 have been together so long, she knows Nate’s crazy family (a dad who was a former magician and clown) well enough now that she aids in the comedy material.

Their Daughter is a Star in her Own Right

In 2012, Laura and Nate welcomed a daughter, Harper Blair, and since then, she’s taken Nate’s comedy in a new direction. He formed a wildly popular new stand-up string of “Dad Jokes”, and Harper Blair even introduced Nate’s new stand-up special on social media for him. On their podcast, Laura and Nate constantly write their equally hilarious daughter into the scripts, and even at just 9 years old, she got a funny bone to rival her dad’s.
