The iconic singer is teaming up with fast-food chain McDonalds for a whopping 12 days for deals only available through the McDonald’s app.
It’s a smart move to bring on board the A-list performer, as her holiday album is the best-selling Christmas release of all time. The top single, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is a holiday favorite worldwide, also holding the record for most Spotify streams in a single day (a staggering 17 million plays on Christmas Eve in 2020) and three Guinness World Records.
Dubbed by Forbes writer Lauren Alvarez as “the unofficial song of Christmas each year,” the modern carol led to Carey being named the Queen of Christmas.
Now she’s using her royal presence to push a dozen budget-friendly deals. The promotion, which launches December 13, offers customers spending at least $1 through the McD’s app a free item plucked from the limited-time-only “Mariah Menu.” For instance, customers can snag a free Big Mac on launch day, or bring home Mariah’s personal fave, the McDonald’s cheeseburger, for no extra charge on December 17.
McDonald’s USA’s VP of Marketing, Brand Content, and Engagement Jennifer Healan said in a recent press release, “Mariah goes with the holidays like ketchup and fries, so we couldn’t think of a better partner to help us celebrate the upcoming season.”
Mariah talked about her own excitement over the upcoming snackapalooza in a joint press release shared by McDonald’s marketing team. In it, 51-year-old Carey explained the inspiration behind the collaboration, and it has a lot to do with nostalgia. “Some of my favorite memories with my kids are our family trips to McDonald’s, and of course, each of us has our go-to order. Mine is the Cheesebuger, and I get it with extra pickles. Bringing together some of our favorite food from McDonald’s with my all-time favorite season is a holiday wish come true.”
Carey shares fraternal twins Moroccan and Monroe, born in 2011, with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
To participate, all customers have to do is download the McDonald’s app, visit the deals section, and place a qualifying order.
