A look into Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Diwali Bash

Tis the season for celebration, and power couple Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have joined in with a fun-filled Diwali party thrown at their very own $20 million Encino mansion.

Fans first got wind of the shindig when Jonas posted a video on Instagram with images taken from inside the party. Followers were treated to an artsy 360-degree shot of Jonas and his wife of three years fully decked out in their interpretations of traditional outfits. Nick wore a black, sleeveless take on a Nehru jacket over a red kurta, a loose-fitting collarless shirt, while Chopra, a former Miss World, stunned in a beaded white dress with flowing sleeves, sparkling embellishments, and a peek-a-boo bodice.

Several other celeb guests including former model Chrissy Teigen and her singer husband John Legend and Nick’s brother Joe posted their own videos, giving a behind-the-scenes look at decorations that included eye-catching flameless sparklers, floral garlands, and plenty of candles in and around the pool. The backdrop? A breathtaking view of LA.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a huge holiday in Chopra’s native India. This multi-faith extravaganza, which is dedicated to the triumph of light over darkness, lasts for five days and typically falls between mid-October and mid-November. Each day is associated with specific customs. For instance, on day one, celebrants honor Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth, by buying oil lamps, clothing, and jewelry they’ll later use for the festival.

Chopra, who starred in a number of high-grossing Bollywood hits before moving to Hollywood, appears to be keeping those customs close to heart. She took to Instagram before the party to share pictures of a Mahalakshmi Pooja, a ceremony that often sees people say prayers while giving a variety of fruits, coins, and flowers to the deity. The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador captioned the image with, “With the blessings of Goddess Mahalakshmi we invite Her grace and abundance into our home. Happy Diwali.”

The happy duo clearly enjoy blending their different upbringings and traditions. Although Jonas grew up Christian, he showed his appreciation for his wife’s beliefs with a post sending best wishes for Diwali, saying, “[She] has introduced me to so many wonderful Indian holidays and traditions. My heart is so full to be able to share this with our friends and family.”

Meanwhile, Chopra posted a still photograph with her husband, both still in their festival garb, with a sweet note: “Our first diwali in our first home together. This one will always be special. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this evening so special. You’re my angels.” She later gave a shout out to her multi-talented spouse, tagging Nick and saying, “…you are what dreams are made of. I love you. My heart is so grateful and full ❤️.”
