Comedian Bob Saget, best known for playing the iconic and adorably dorky Danny Tanner on TV’s Full House, has passed away.

Saget was found unresponsive in his hotel room this past Sunday. He had been staying at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, following a stop on his stand-up tour. Just hours before, he had taken to Instagram with a quick selfie and a shout out to the night’s crowd. “Okay, I loved tonight’s show in Jacksonville,” Saget wrote. “Really nice audience. Lots of positivity. Happened last night in Orlando last night at the Hard Rock Live too… I’m back in comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it.”

Sources have since come forward to say that those close to Saget were unaware of any underlying health conditions that could’ve led to the beloved actor’s death. “There was no foul play,” they added, “nothing odd at all. All we have been told is that he died in his sleep.”

During a recent appearance on a friend’s podcast, Saget had spoken in broad terms about his experience with COVID-19, saying, “It is not good, it does not feel good — I had it.” However, he was believed to be fully recovered and was also both fully vaccinated against the virus and had received his booster as well.

Since news of Saget’s passing broke, celebrities and fans have taken to social media to share their shock and grief with many calling the Grammy-nominated funnyman one of the sweetest, kindest people they’d ever met. Though he was known for his crass humor, Saget was also nicknamed “America’s Dad” for his role on Full House and overall nice-guy persona.

Saget’s Full House co-star John Stamos tweeted, “I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby.”

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, who took turns playing Saget’s youngest daughter in the family sitcom, called their TV dad “the most loving, compassionate and generous man” and said they knew he would “continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always had.”

Tributes also came in from other Full House stars including Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber as well as How I Met Your Mother lead Josh Radnor, actress Kate Dennings, Tim Allen, Viola Davis, Jim Carrey, and SNL comedian Pete Davidson who shared a story about how Saget helped him through mental health struggles, staying on the phone with Davidson’s mother for hours at a time.

Bob Saget leaves behind his wife, Kelly Rizzo, whom he married in 2018, and three adult daughters he shared with his first wife, Sherri Kramer. The family issued a statement asking for privacy as they mourn their “beloved Bob” and inviting fans to “join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world.”
